Target Industry Labor Shed Study

NIDA is collaborating with the Economic Development Organizations (EDOs) in Whiteside, Lee, Ogle, and Carroll Counties to undertake a Target Industry Labor Shed Study by December 31, 2012. The study, led by the Northern Illinois University – Center for Governmental Studies, will:

  • Identify potential business location advantages
  • Determine the level of underemployment in the labor force and the willingness to change jobs
  • Identify existing, as well as new and emerging, business clusters suited to the assets of our region for the next decade and beyond

Wage compensation results will inform local developers of the personnel costs of doing business here. The cluster analysis will help us assess current and future training and technology needs of our key industries, in order to recruit resource providers to address these needs (using community colleges and regional resources).

To learn more about the study's progress and results call the NIDA office at 815-233-1356.
